Many adults carry a quiet worry. Maybe they never had Quran classes as a child. Maybe they learned once and forgot. Maybe they are new to Islam and the Arabic letters look completely new. And somewhere along the way, they started to feel it was too late.
It is not too late. Adults learn to read the Quran all the time, and you can too.
First, find your starting point
You don't have to start at the beginning if you already know some things. Here is a simple way to see where you are:
- You can't read the Arabic letters yet. Start with Noorani Qaida. It teaches each letter, its correct sound and the vowel marks, one step at a time.
- You know the letters, but reading is slow. Start with Nazra Quran. You read from the Quran itself while your teacher corrects each word.
- You can read, but you want to recite correctly. Start with Tajweed, which teaches the rules of correct recitation and how to use them in your own reading.
If you are not sure, that is fine. Finding your level is exactly what the free demo class is for.
Why one-to-one classes suit adults
Many adults don't want to learn in a group. They worry about making mistakes in front of others, or about holding the group back.
In a one-to-one class, there is nobody else listening. Your teacher focuses only on you, corrects you kindly, and moves at your speed. Each class is 30 minutes, so it fits around work and family. You can join from home on Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp.
Some sounds will feel new, and that's normal
A few Arabic letters are made deep in the throat, and English doesn't use them. At first your mouth may not know what to do. This is normal for every adult learner. With a little practice, the sounds start to feel natural. Your teacher shows you exactly where each sound comes from.
How to keep going when life gets busy
- Fix your class times. The same days and times each week work better than "when I find time".
- Read for ten minutes on the other days. Small, regular practice beats one long session.
- Learn in the language you are comfortable with. Our classes are taught in English or Urdu.
- Don't compare yourself to others. Your only goal is to be a little better than last week.
For women and girls
A female teacher is available on request. You can read more on our page for Quran classes for women.
For new Muslims
We teach from the very first Arabic letter, patiently and privately. Nothing is assumed. See our Quran classes for new Muslims.
Questions adults often ask
Am I too old to learn to read the Quran?
No. Adults of every age learn to read the Quran. What matters most is regular practice, not age.
How long will it take me?
It depends on where you start and how often you practise. In your free demo, I check your level and give you an honest idea.
Will anyone else be in my class?
No. Every class is private and one-to-one, just you and your teacher.
Take the first step
Every student starts with a free 30-minute demo with me. I am a Hafiz-e-Quran, and I take every demo myself. I'll listen to you read (or help you start from the first letter) and suggest where to begin. No payment, no pressure.
